NID International Residencies 2022-2023
Starting from the 2021 edition, NID Platform’s international zeal has found a new line of action that, on the level of creative practices and bilateral artistic processes, offers a further opportunity for growth and comparison.
For a number of editions, NID Platform has already been able to count on the growing presence of foreign professional operators interested in both updating their knowledge of Italian dance and following and accompanying more project paths and artistic collaboration proposals, with a strong inclination to invest in international co-productions.
Indeed, “Open Studios”, the NID Platform section dedicated to projects still being developed by both male and female choreographers and presented to Italian and foreign operators during the development of the platform programme, is intended to represent a way to support male and female artists in the subsequent production process. This has also been done by offering residencies in Italy and abroad, intercepting new and broader collaborations in order to promote Italian talent on the international stage.
The subsequent launch of initiatives aimed at establishing bilateral artistic residencies structured through partnerships between institutions and professional bodies is therefore another goal to be pursued by NID Platform with a view to consolidating the connection between Italian and foreign artists and operators in the world of contemporary dance.
NID Platform’s promotion of international projection is thus enriched with time spent in places abroad where, through residency projects and bilateral workshops, new opportunities for creativity and professional development can be created. In this way, and on the level of reciprocal exchanges between Italy and the artists of the countries involved from time to time, the result is a significant extension of time for activities and an appreciable intensification of network creation to enhance the professional careers of dancers and choreographers.
NID Platform’s bilateral residencies are realised thanks to the inter-institutional partnership between the Directorate General for Performing Arts of the Ministry of Culture and the various Italian Cultural Institutes involved in the residency projects, as well as in collaboration with prestigious foreign bodies and institutions, and those that are nationally acclaimed in their country of origin.
